Sunday 20th May UKA Licence 2012-103272 Certificate of Course Accuracy 10/184
Once again Eastleigh Running Club and Marwell Wildlife have joined forces to bring you this popular annual event. This is your opportunity to join us in the race to save wildlife. The Marwell 10k and Fun Run is our biggest challenge event each year and helps raise funds for wildlife conservation and the care of our animals in the park. Entry Details The prices for the 2012 races are as follows: 10K UKA Affiliated/Club Runner: £13 10K Un-affiliated £15 Fun Run £6
New for 2012. You can Enter BOTH the Races Online Here – there is NO ADDITIONAL FEE. or you can Download the Joint Race Entry Form Here . Remember your entry also gets you into Marwell Wildlife for the day.
Raising Money for Marwell Wildlife Last year we raised over £8,000. This year we’d like to double it! If every runner raised just £10 in sponsorship it would total £15,000 – that’s enough to feed all our animals for three months or to move 15 rhinos to safe havens away from poachers. Ask your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you. A sponsorship form will be attached to your entry confirmation message or you can download one by clicking here: Alternatively why not set up your own 'justgiving' page. With discounted entry on the day of the event invite your supporters to share your achievement and cheer you over the line.
Race Day Information The FUN RUN starts at 10:00 The 10K starts at 10.30 A copy of the Race Information can be found here: A map showing you where all race services are please click here. To avoid queues, please use all the toilet facilities around the park – use them as part of your warm up! Marwell Wildlife gates are open at 9am – although you may start queue before then. We say this every year, but please give yourself plenty of time to get to the park, get all your supporters through the gate and you ready to race. Please remember that if you do not have a race number you will need an entry ticket or annual membership card (see discount prices section). Please note: Our road order runs from 10.00-12.00. After this time our marshals will need to clear the course. For your safety - and ours - we would recommend that all competitors aim to complete the race in 1.30 minutes or less.
10K Chip Timing 10K runners MUST collect their TIMING CHIP – if you race without it you will get a medal but no time or position. CHIP COLLECTION is right after the road entrance – please make sure that you get in the correct line for your number. You should attach your chip to your laces with the plastic tags provided. To see how to attach your chip please click here:
Fun Run Safety We would remind all parents that they remain responsible their children. You are welcome to accompany them on the run but you don’t qualify for a goody bag – no matter how tired you feel at the end. If you are not running with your child, please, please, please make sure that you meet them at the meeting point after the race. To see a map of where this is click here.
Disabled Runner We would ask all disabled runners to contact the Race Director (023 8069 3989) prior to the race so that we can discuss any requirements or safety concerns you might have. If you require a large print copy of the Race Information, please click here.
If you require a printed copy of the Pre-Race Safety
briefing – these will be available from the Information Tent on the day
of the race and displayed in the start area.
The 10K Course The race starts with a 1K lap of the zoological park, taking in the Giraffes, Tigers and Rhinos before heading out into the beautiful Hampshire countryside. A map of the road course can be found here: Now we can’t really hide from the fact that our course is a little “undulating”. To give you an idea of the gradients click here for a profile of the course. As you can see it’s all downhill from 6K onwards. You finish back in the park down a lovely leafy avenue to end up roughly where you started… Discount Prices for Entry to Marwell Wildlife We will confirm the discounted rates for entry tickets as soon as we can: Adults £ Children (3-16) £ Senior citizen/Student £ Disabled Adult + 1 free carer £ Disabled Child + 1 free carer £ If you are not a race number holder or Marwell Wildlife annual member you will have to purchase a ticket to come into the park.
