Marwell Wildlife 10k and Fun Run 2010 - Sunday 23rd May

Congratulations to you all.

A special mention....

We know that many of you were concerned about our runner that collapsed near the finish. Tracy Dower - having done all the right training was overcome with the heat on the day and was taken to hospital but we are very pleased to day she is fine. Sadly she never got a medal on the day and neither did her wonderful friend Helen Hiscocks who stayed with her, rather than run on. However we are happy to make amends and their medals will be forwarded.

Martin Lewis Photographer was out on the course capturing images of all runners as our 'official' photographer for both the 10K and Fun Run. You can view his photos here: www.martinlewis.biz and may be able to search for your photos using your Race Number. They are located in the Order Online section of his website.

From a tired Race Director………….Well what a scorcher!

RACE ROUND UP

This year’s 10K ROAD RACE must have be one of the hottest on record – as if our course wasn’t challenging enough. However Simon Plumber (City of Salisbury) seemed completely unbothered by either as stormed home, well ahead, in our new course record of 32:25. Our winner from the previous two years, James Baker (Chichester Runners) was a strong second with Lester Bevan (Unattached) taking third place.

In the ladies race Karrie Blake (City of Portsmouth), was a very impressive winner in 38:58 the new course record. Lora Bukhory (Unattached) took second with Kate Towerton (Unattached) in third.

There were age category wins for Kevin King (M40), Noel O’Dowd (M50), Rod Smith (M60), Tony Crowther (M70), Lydia Browning (F35), Paula Meredith (F45) and Marilyn Hunt (F55).

Fareham Crusaders took the ladies club prize, whilst Eastleigh Running Club claimed first spot for the men.

Our Team Award this year goes to the team of RAF runners based at National Air Traffic Services in Swanick

A Victory for the girls in the Fun Run with Evie Grice led the field home in emphatic style in around 7 minutes, a great time. Elliott Wright was our first boy home.
